BÉZIERS, France - France exploded for 26 points in the final 50 minutes to beat the USA 36-10 in a women's test match Tuesday at Stade de le Méditerranée.

This was the first of two test matches between the two teams.

Playing under new captain and Sorensen Award-Winner Hope Rogers, the Eagles looked the part early on. Even though France scored first - mauling in from a lineout thanks to a USA penalty in a previous scrum - the Eagles were right there. The USA defended the next maul from a lineout, and in fact stole the ball. Hope Rogers powered on, recycled the ball for Alycia Washington to make some ground, and then the captain and prop picked it up again to score. Kimber Rozier's conversion made it 7-5.

The Eagles came close to scoring again, but it was France that went over, with center Caroline Ladagnous doing the honors.

Kimber Rozier added a penalty to tie it for the USA.

But late in the first half, France started to take control. A long period of pressure ended up with prop Annëlle Dessayes powering over. And that made it 17-10.

In the second half, fullback Laurianne Lissar got France into the USA end and Ladagnous scored in the corner for her second. As the mistakes mounted, France started to roll. Romane Menager and then Yanna Rivoalen scored to make it 36-10.

For the Eagles, the first 30 was a good look at what they can do, but a relatively inexperienced team coming from a variety of teams and competitions, looked like it.

The final match of the November Tour is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 25, at 3 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast on The Rugby Channel behind the pay wall.
