DII Latest - Soft Opening

It was a bit of a soft opening for DII men's college teams Labor Day Weekend, but some teams have already kicked off.

Missouri S&T was really strong two years ago in the Gateway, and made a statement a week ago with a big victory over Principia. The Miners were tough and physical and that saw them through.

Western State, Rocky Mountain champs a year ago, started strong against Colorado Mesa, winning 64-5. No. 8 Greysen Lincoln scored three tries in the first 15 minutes to put Western State in command. Flanker Rodrick Waters also scored three in the game.

Defending South champs and 2016 national runners up, Furman, shut out Western Carolina. The other South games were either forfeits or postponed, thanks in part of bad weather.
