Indiana University center Bryce Campbell has been selected as the recipient of the 2016-17 Rody Scholz Award.

The award, inaugurated in the 2015-16 season, is sponsored by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash., and presented to the top Men's DI College rugby player for the season. A panel of coaches, college administrators, and media selected the 15 nominees. The college rugby populace then voted on those nominees to select the four finalists.

That list of finalists was then brought back to the Scholz Award Panel, which voted for Campbell.

(Panelists were asked to rank the finalists 1st through 4th, with a points system applied to those rankings of 5 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, and 1 for 4th. Campbell had the most 1st-place votes and the most overall points.)

Campbell will receive his Scholz Award Trophy at the MA Sorensen & Rudy Scholz Awards at the Washington Athletic Club on June 10.

At the Awards, former USA Women's 7s Captain Ines Rodriguez will be the keynote speaker.

The Rudy Scholz Award is named after two-time USA Olympic Gold Medal-winning rugby player Rudy Scholz.
