Of the 47 players who were named to the USA WNT camp starting May 24 with the hopes of making the USA Women's World Cup squad, only seven played high school rugby. The vast majority of the players (37/47) got their first taste of rugby in college, with only three of the players waiting until after college to take up the game.

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Following a nationwide search, Mel Denham has been hired as the new women's rugby head coach at Central Washington University. Denham, who has served as the head women's rugby coach at American International College (AIC) in Springfield, Massachusetts since 2012, will assume her new post on next month.

The Capital High girls won their third Idaho state championship in a row defeating, The Centennial Furies 55-0 in the final.

The Eagles completed their third undefeated season outscoring opponents 474-22 and giving up only one first-half try all season.

Historical Champions in the Girls NIT.

In 2000, a group of girls HS team got together to host their own national championship. They did this for eight years before USA Rugby took the competition under their organization. The USA Rugby Girls National Championship lasted for four season, 2008-2011, before USA Rugby made it a National Invitational tournament in 2012.

The USA Women’s 7s team won the Plate at the Amsterdam 7s, defeating Russia 27-12 in the Plate Final, and recording one of their better tournaments for the season.

Gonzaga won the 2014 Boys NIT Single-School Championship May 17 in Elkhart, Ind.

At the same tournament, Cathedral won the HS Club bracket.

In Tier II, Jesuit B - the 2nd side of Jesuit of Sacramento, which had competed in the HS Club league in Northern California all year, defeated Brother Rice to win.

Two of the winners won by a single points.
