Six highly-comeptent teams descend on Portland, Ore. for the Great Northwest Challenge Boys All-Star tournament.

The GNC also features a JV Boys, Varsity Girls and JV Girls bracket, making for a total of 19 teams facing off at Delta Park in Oregon's biggest city.

Life University hosts the South Regional All-Star Tournament this weekend, with seven teams in the Boys Varsity Bracket.

With the programs expanding ever into JV and, in the future, middle school select-side rugby, tournament host Dan Payne said that this South RAST may well outgrow Life's rugby facility. But for now, the size it just right.

Led by player-of-the-game performances by inside back Kristin Tanner of Armstrong and Hopkins flanker Andrea Sanabria, the Minnesota girls all-star team defeated Wisconsin to win the Midwest Rugby Challenge Sunday in Elkart, Ind.

The victory capped off a best-ever all-star effort by Minnesota, which has been too often the bridesmaid team in recent years.

USA prop Shawn Pittman is returning to the high school program that got him started in rugby to run a camp this summer. Pittman first began playing rugby for the Chuckanut Bay club in northern Washington state, starring as a No. 8 and earning the nickname “Grizzly” for his wild hair and beard.

In a way the above photo embodies the story of the the Gaels, as Alec Barton got little time on the field in the early games, but ended up scoring the game-clinching try in the DIA Final in May. It seems a little strange to call Christian Adams a raw talent, given that he has been playing regularly at a high level through high school, the HS All Americans, the USA U20s, and now in college. But the American International College freshman is still a raw talent, albeit one trying to hone his abilities.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The touring side for the USA Rugby AIG Men’s Collegiate All-Americans’ upcoming matches against Cambridge University and Ontario Blues has been selected.

The Northern California girls all-star team laid down a market in winning the Rocky Mountain Challenge, beating a tough Utah team 24-12 in the final.

In a tournament disrupted somewhat by lightning, Northern California brought the thunder, with a powerful forward performance that helped to unleash a potent back line.

Boys All-Star teams from North Carolina and South Carolina squared off in a tuneup in advance of the Life RAST tournament next weekend.  Both the Varsity and JV teams from each state clashed, with North Carolina winning both, as coaches evaluated their players. Both teams traveled to Clemson University and ran three 20-minute periods.

This weekend in Atlanta the South held their first 7s club qualifying tournament for both men and women.

Atlanta Old White won the Men's Qualifier, beating Charlotte 7-5 in the final.

The Atlanta Harlequins won the Women's Qualifier, 27-12 over Orlando.

Sunday was a busy day for the Rocky Mountain Challenge Regional All-Star tournament as the teams had to make up games halted by lightning on Saturday.

As a result, action began at 8am, and moved on through the weekend. The Utah Lions won the tournament, beating Heart of America 17-8 in the final. Utah also won the Boys JV tournament, beating Colorado 33-10 in the final.
