Northeast RAST in Massachusetts

The final Regional All-Star Tournament for high school players is set for Devens, Mass. this Saturday.

Four boys Varsity teams, four girls Varsity teams, and three JV boys teams will play over the weekend.

It’s been tough for the Northeast all-star teams to form the right tournament for them, as the East RAST in Pittsburgh that was held last weekend has often been tagged as the one for New England teams. However, Pittsburgh is not easy to get to from New England, and the teams from that region have set up their own opportunity to play some higher-level games.

This weekend, though, is a big testing weekend for sophomores and seniors from some of the states involved, meaning that many of the Varsity teams are junior-heavy, and many of the JV teams are freshman-heavy.

The format is a fairly straightforward one, with each Varsity team playing a single semifinal on Saturday and a single final or 3rd/4th match on Sunday.

The JV teams, all three of them, will play a round-robin.

The Saturday Varsity matchups are:
Boys
Greenwich/Fairfield County (Conn.) v Northern New England
Mass. Youth Rugby v Connecticut

Girls
Mass Youth Rugby v Vermont
Connecticut v Capital Area (NY)

JV teams are Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization (MYRO), Connecticut, and the team from Greenwich/Fairfield County in Connecticut, featuring players from that state’s strongest team, Greenwich HS.
