Clemson Wins ACRL

Clemson University won the Atlantic Coast Rugby League with a very impressive 39-10 defeat of #19 Maryland in Charlotte, NC Saturday on the final weekend of the ACRL season.

Max Simons opened the scoring early for Clemson, and Jai White followed on soon after. Jason Damm made it 17-0 and it wasn’t until 30 minutes that Maryland got on the board.

Up 17-10, Clemson weathered a yellow card and, when back to full strength, hammered the Terps with tries from Dylan Goulding, Ryan Gilroy, and Chris Abraham. Aaron Keers was on song with his kicking in the second half, slotting two conversions and a penalty to put his side up 39-10 with 18 minutes to go.

With the subs run on, Maryland was unable to breach the Clemson defense, and that’s how the game ended. Clemson will play the SCRC champions in the ACRC Bowl Weekend November 22. Maryland will play the SCRC runners up.

Here are the final ACRL standings minus the postponed Virginia Tech v Wake Forest game. The standings do include Virginia Tech's 50-10 defeat of Virginia Saturday, and NC State's 43-11 defeat of North Carolina.
