All Cheers for ECRC

All hail the ECRC.

That’s the feeling coming out of the ACRC Bowl Series, where three East Coast Rugby Conference teams played, and won. AIC defeated MAC champions Bowling Green 46-40, Boston College defeated Iona 29-19, and UMass defeated SWC champions North Texas 46-0. AIC were the ECRC winners, while BC and UMass joined Middlebury in what was essentially a tie for 2nd, all with 4-2 records (BC took 2nd on bonus points).

“I think this weekend was a big statement for the ECRC,” said AIC wing Deshae Edwards. “I don’t know if we get enough respect or not, but we did want all of the conference teams to do well. We were out there Friday night cheering on BC and they were here for us [on Saturday].”

In fact, AIC and UMass tunneled off BC Friday after they beat Iona, and UMass and BC tunneled off AIC the next day, with the AIC and BC players staying to cheer on UMass later in the day.

“We know we have a good conference and we have good rivalries, but there’s good camaraderie between the teams too,” added Edwards.

“We all respect each other,” added AIC Head Coach Josh Macy. “It’s a good collegial competition.”
